If you’ve got a spare month or two, taking a spin around continental Australia on Highway One is a bonza way to see our vast country. Unlike our Heavenly Rocky Road (pictured below), it was fully sealed in the1980s and stretches to around 14,500 clicks (AKA kilometers/9,000 miles), which is about the same distance between New York to Sydney.
It’s a coastal route that takes you through deserts and rainforests and past miles of our 10,000+ beaches. You also get to drop in on our state capitals and spot famous landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House. Just look out for the wildlife along the way!
